GOODING • North Canyon Medical Center’s $10 million addition is on schedule to open at the end of the year, but a new MRI unit will be coming much sooner.
Shellie Amundson, director of community relations for the hospital, said groundwork has just about been completed on the 33,000 square-foot medical office building.
But the smaller addition for the new MRI unit at the end of the diagnostic imaging hallway should be complete this spring.
The MRI unit will provide outpatient and emergency services beginning June 1.
“Right now, we have (our mobile unit) three days a week.”

The hospital’s medical plaza has been under construction since November, and will likely open in November or December this year.
In the meantime, the hospital is seeking community feedback and recently issued a survey to discover what the perceptions are about its operations. Another survey to be issued later this month will ask residents their thoughts on health care needs for the area. Data from that survey may be used to assist with the hospital’s community health needs assessment, Amundson said.
